Leerdoelen	Acquiring an integrative view of physiology via a combination of teaching methods: studying a textbook, following lectures and independently studying subjects with the help of computer-assisted teaching. Working in groups, the ability to popularize science in the form of folders and poster presentations, independently conducting simple physiology experiments on test subjects. Learning outcomes: Knowledge of human physiology. The ability to apply this knowledge to other animals. Knowledge of physiological functions as a part of a large, integrative network, whereby students have an overview of the material and can understand why and how several organ systems communicate and cooperate with each other in order to preserve homeostasis. Understanding the interactions between the physiology and related areas such as medicine, biochemistry and neurosciences. The ability to work with physiological principles and the underlying mechanisms that play a role in brain function, in behaviour, health and illness. Neurones, neurotransmitters and the brain. Hormonal processes. How muscles work. Respiration and gas transport. Physiology of the kidneys. Regulation of food intake, digestion and the processes in the gastrointestinal tract. Reproduction. The physiology of sport and exertion. Practicals in the field of respiration, cardiovascular processes and muscle function. The material will be applied in 10 hours of physiology practicals. We will also take a closer look at medical physiology by means of some specialist lectures and practicals. Expanding the material in the form of a joint project (4 students per project) which will be presented in the form of a poster and an information folder during a congress organized by the students.
