Leerdoelen At the end of the course, the student is able to:
1. Determine vector properties (linear independence, basis, dimension).
2. Analyse and solve systems of linear equations.
3. Set-up and analyse linear transformations.
4. Perform matrix operations (multiplication, inverse).
5. Compute determinants.
6. Compute eigenvalues and eigenvectors and employ these in practical applications.
7. Solve systems of first-order linear differential equations.
8. Compute and analyse basic geometry (lines, planes and intersections).
9. Perform partial differentiation, compute extrema, gradient, tangent planes, and linear approximations.
10. Compute double integrals.
Omschrijving In this course, basic concepts and skills in the area of linear algebra are discussed.
Subsequently, functions of one variable are extended to multi-variable functions, with topics such as: partial derivatives, directional derivatives, gradients, extrema and multiple integration. The material is illustrated through examples that focus on the applications of mathematical techniques.

Opmerkingen The final grade for this course is determined by the Written Exam (WE) with a minimum of 5.5 required to pass the course overall.
AST and IT are optional and can add a bonus to the WE grade (calculation of bonus: average grade of AST and IT multiplied by 0.1). The final grade is WE + bonus if applicable with a maximum grade of 10.
