Leerdoelen At the end of the course the students should:
1.describe and explain chemical structure, properties and processing industrially relevant polymeric products.
2.review and analyze the literature in the field of polymer processes and products.
3.report the findings of a comparative/critical literature study (both verbally and in writing) for a given topic.
4.critically evaluate a problem and/or a product in relation to its process.
Omschrijving This module deals with polymer products and the processes that are needed to produce them. The first part of the module consists of background knowledge, namely a series of lectures given by people form the industrial world concerning the main classes of polymeric products (resins, rubbers, polyolefins and engineering plastics) as well as their use. Weekly homework will be assigned by the expert guest lecturers on relevant industrial topics. The second part of the module consists a group report and presentation meant to train the students in the critical analysis of literature. No books are needed for this module. Sheets are on Nestor.

Entreevoorwaarden The course unit assumes prior knowledge acquired from bachelor Chemical Engineering curricula including Transport Phenomena, Macromolecular Chemistry, Product Technology.

The course unit is often followed by, or prepares students for the course Advanced Product Engineering; (present in both programs, vide supra), in which the learning objectives attained are strongly desired (although not formally required) as prior knowledge.
