Leerdoelen | The course unit From Bacteria to Plastic aims to give students an overview of the different sub-disciplines of the Chemistry programme in Groningen. Furthermore the course unit will give them a chance to become acquainted with the study attitude at an institution of higher education. | ||||||||||||
Omschrijving | The central theme of the entire course unit is lactic acid. Lactic acid, its derivatives as well as the polymeric form of lactic acid, poly(lactic acid), is a chemical important to the whole of chemistry and can be found in almost all areas of chemistry and specialisms that have developed over the years. By choosing lactic acid as the central theme, the course unit emphasizes that knowledge of basic chemistry is essential for all sub-disciplines of chemistry. By studying different sub-disciplines using lactic acid, the course unit also aims to paint a picture of both the diversity in chemistry as well as the societal issues that require knowledge of chemistry. |
