Leerdoelen At the end of the course, the student is able to:
- Explain meaning of different concepts often used in the field of robotics.
- Explain workings of common methods used in robotics and perform experiment with 2 different computer applets (Braitenberg Vehicles and Markov Localization).
- Explain techniques from Evolutionary Computation and perform experiment with computer applet (Genetic Algorithms).
- Explain general workings of Machine Learning algorithms.
- Explain the concepts used in Artificial Life and the way complex behavior emerges from simple rules and perform experiments with 2 different computer applets (Boids and Cellular Automata).
Omschrijving The behaviour of autonomous systems is a result of both the internal mechanisms and the interaction with the environment. Autonomous systems can be robots interacting with the real world, but also simulated agents interacting with a simulated world. An autonomous system should be able to perceive the world and behave in an appropriate manner. In this course, we will discuss a number of important aspects among which embodied cognition, sensors, machine learning, and artificial life.

(Het eindcijfer wordt bepaald door het tentamen (50%), en de cijfers voor de practicumverslagen (50%). Beide moeten minstens een 5.0 zijn om het vak te halen.)
