Leerdoelen Upon completion of the course the student is able to:
1. Carry out an econometric analysis on cross-section and panel data.
2. Interpret and critically evaluate the results of several estimation and testing procedures.
3. Apply appropriate estimation techniques for relatively simple empirical problems.
4. Use a statistical package (STATA) for estimating the standard econometric models.
5. On a basic level explain the technical details behind the econometric techniques.
Omschrijving The course covers modern econometric methods on the basis of an intermediate textbook. The technique of regression will be discussed, as well as various extensions of this estimation method in order to deal with issues such as endogenous regressors, non-linear models (e.g. probit, logit, tobit), and the analysis of panel data. The students have to complete assignments that require the use of the econometric software package STATA.
