Leerdoelen Upon completion of this course the participant is able to:
• understand the financial management & control cycle (incl. budgeting systems) and the role of the CFO in this process
• analyse annual reports, compare annual reports and derive important insights based on common used financial ratio’s
• compare several investment opportunities and calculate return on investments based on the discounted cashflow method
• understand and apply several methods that are used to valuate a business (e.g. asset based, earnings based and market value based methods), as well as recognize and discuss the pro’s and con’s of these methods
• formulate, present and discuss the pro’s and con’s of a Buy & Build strategy and the consequences of this strategy for the future financial performance of the company
• work and cooperate in a team
• present (in writing and orally) relevant information in a logical, convincing and clear way
Omschrijving In this course students learn how to analyze annual reports and derive insights of financial company reports as well as understand the main shortcomings of financial reports . We also discuss several methods of how a company can be valuated from a financial perspective and how mergers & acquisitions as well
as divestments can enhance business value. Also the pro’s and con’s of several ways to finance a business (stock market, private equity, family owned
companies, cooperatives) will be discussed.

Toetsvorm -groepsopdracht,  -groepspresentatie,  -individuele opdracht
(Two written group assignments, including group presentations (60% of grade) and an individual assignment (40% of grade))
