Multidisciplinary Energy Essentials |
Leerdoelen |
Upon completion of the course the students are able to: - understand the key differences and complementariness among several academic perspectives and methodologies; - reflect on their own discipline in comparison to other disciplines; - apply insights from different academic disciplines on problems related to energy transition. |
Omschrijving |
In the first week of the course we will discuss the key characteristics of the energy systems and which challenges the societies face to make their energy system more sustainable, secure and/or affordable. We will show that a multidisciplinary approach is necessary to address the energy challenges. In the weeks 2 to 7 we will discuss energy systems from the perspectives of various academic perspectives: natural sciences, law, economics, social and behavioural sciences, spatial sciences and political sciences. In order to facilitate the multidisciplinary approach, multidisciplinary groups of students will work on group assignments. In addition, every week we will discuss real-world examples on energy transition from various countries/regions. |
