Omschrijving | How do we keep track of epidemics? How do we know about the state of biodiversity? Who checks whether our water is clean enough drink? All these questions involve monitoring and are essential, if we are to contribute to addressing major societal challenges like the SDGs. In this course, we will analyse why monitoring is so important for such questions and for sustainability in general. We will also explore we could possibly know the answer to these questions, and with what level of certainty. The course will explore the interplay between environmental issues and the crucial role of science, public trust and complex infrastructures in addressing them. |
