During the month December the
Eric Bleumink Fund
(EBF) of the University of Groningen organised a fundraising campaign. In the December issue of the alumni magazine Broerstraat 5 a payment slip was enclosed through which the EBF could be supported. This action currently has raised more than € 21,000 in donations. Through crowdfunding and the telephone fundraising campaign more than € 25,000 was raised. Moreover, the staff of the University and the UMCG can support the EBF by donating their Christmas gift. It is not known yet how much has been donated. Finally, there are 583 regular donors for the EBF.
EBF is the oldest Fund of the Ubbo Emmius Fund. For years, funds are being raised for scholarships. With success: since its launch in 2000, 71 young, ambitious and highly talented students from developing countries receive the EBF Talent Grant. Each year an average of four students can follow a master's program at the University of Groningen.
The University of Groningen (UG) holds the 114th place in the QS World University Rankings. The QS Ranking is an influential ranking list of almost 1,000 universities worldwide. Last year the UG held the120th place.
