Future radiobiology research for particle therapy at the KVI-CART accelerator facility
In an interview in the november issue of the newsletter of the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) (http://newsletter.estro.be/2017/2017NovemberDecember/07-Radiobiology_4.html) Professor Sytze Brandenburg of KVI-CART presents among other things the plans for a state-of-the-art experimental facility for radiobiology research related to particle therapy of cancers at the KVI-CART AGOR cyclotron. At the new facility ion beams ranging from protons to carbon will be available with different dose delivery methods (scattering as well as scanning). Accurate positioning will be facilitated by 3D X-ray imaging at the irradiation position. Functional imaging (MRI, PET) capability will be available at the new Groningen Small Animal Imaging facility at the University Medical Center Groningen.
Researchers will have access to the facility by submitting their proposals to a Programme Advisory Committee.
