20 July 2017

The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) has awarded an Internationalistation in the Humanities Grant to prof. Peter Attema, Professor of Mediterranean Archaeology at the Faculty of Arts. His research project is one of the in total seven awarded projects in this programme.

Together around Rome
The grant will be used to fund the research project Ancient Rome. Rome was the biggest city of Europe for a long period of time and could not function without the surrounding rural area. But what do we really know about that? In this project, the researchers will merge three large archaeological databases to be able to pose questions about the economy and social organisation of the city and its hinterland.
