The Healing Power of Silence

09 March 2017

Interested in soundscapes, sound waves and the power of silence? Kirsten van den Bosch, researcher and teacher at the Hanzehogeschool Groningen and PhD-student of our academic Tjeerd Andringa explain the phenomenon 'Misophonia' in the February 2017 edition of the "Gezond Nu" magazine. Misophonia literally means "hatred of sound". People with misophonia have specific symptoms and triggers and are sensitive to certain sounds.

Kirsten van den Bosch has won the Han Nakken Prijs last December for best article in the field of Intellectual Diasabilities. She has been awarded this prize for her article The Role of Sound in Residential Facilities for People with Profound Intellectual and Multiple Disabilities, that was published in the Journal of Policy and Practice in Intellectual Disabilities (volume, 13, Issue 1, p. 61-68). More information about this research could be found here.
