Het boeddhisme in Mongolie beleeft momenteel een renaissance. Tjalling Halbertsma is onlangs benoemd tot hoogleraar Oost-Azië en Mongolië aan de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. Eerder was hij adviseur van de president van Mongolië. Halbertsma kan uit eerste hand vertellen over de spectaculaire heropkomst van het boeddhisme in Mongolië na de val van het communisme.
