Conference ‘The Unlovable Press’ around honorary doctorate Michael Schudson

On June 16 and 17 the Centre of Media and Journalism Studies will organize a conference around prof. Michael Schudson, who will receive his honorary doctorate at the University of Groningen at Friday June 13.

At this conference the following persons will give a keynote:

-         Prof. Rodney Benson, New York University

-         Prof. Silvio Waisbord, George Washington University

-         Prof. Martin Conboy, University of Sheffield

On June 17 prof. Michael Schudson will close the international conference with his keynote Universities, Journalism and the Ideal of Free Inquiry. This keynote will take place at the Geertsema Room, Academy Building from 17.00 – 18.15 hours and entrance to this keynote is free.

Michael Schudson is professor of Journalism at Columbia University, New York. He is one of the founding fathers of Journalism Studies and renowned for his ground breaking research into the history and sociology of the American news media, advertising, popular culture, Watergate and cultural memory.

Registering for the conference is possible, before Friday June 13.
