On 13 and 14 February we had another edition of our annual CRASIS annual lecture and masterclass. The theme this year was Cultural Knowledge, and our annual CRASIS key note lecturer was Prof. Dr. Marietta Horster (Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz), who also directed the MA / PhD Masterclass.
The intensive masterclass attracted students from all over Europe (programme). All students had submitted a written paper in advance and gave a short presentation on the research he or she had done linking the theme of cultural knowledge to their own research. They received thorough feedback from Prof. Horster and had some vivid discussion on their own subjects and on the circulation an production of cultural knowledge generally.
The Annual study day attracted audience of more than 60 researchers and students in ancient history, archaeology, religious studies, classics and legal history, who came to Groningen to hear papers from an international list of speakers, including Thomas Blank, Thorsten Fögen, Jacqueline Klooster, Egbert Koops, Lautaro Roig Lanzillotta, Jacques van Ruiten, Justin Walsh. We would like to take the opportunity to thank the generous sponsors of this meeting: ARCHON, OIKOS, the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies, and the Groningen Research Institute for the Study of Culture (ICOG).
