In the Master's thesis contest of Hoofbosch fund, MSc Finance student Harm Hommes of the FEB won the 2nd prize. He received the award on January 20th for his thesis "Out- of-sample testing or several at portfolio strategies in the U.S. stock market." "The jury of the thesis was particularly impressed by the practical relevance of the research," says Lammertjan Dam. "Winning this 2nd prize is also a great boost, as there were many entries from nearly all economic faculties in the Netherlands."
The Hoofbosch Prize was organized for the first time this year. The first prize went to Jurgita Kaubryte who graduated from Erasmus University Rotterdam. The deadline for submissions for the next Hoofbosch Prize (2014) is the 30th of June.
