Hongaarse filmavond 13 november - Postcards from Hungary

13 november 2012

The Hungarian Studies at the Finno-Ugric Department continues the series of presenting Hungarian cultural life to wider public in Groningen. This program is organized together with The Language Centre.

On Tuesday November 13, 2012 we show the Hungarian film Konyec (The End, 2007, directed by Gábor Rohonyi), a comic drama, which was appreciated by film critics as well as the public. The film combining humor and bitterness shows the life of a retired couple in contemporary Hungary as it turns to be a Bonnie and Clyde story. The man and the woman are not young and healthy. Their car is not fancy, rather a relic from the good old communist times. Their love story is interwoven with the life of the young police officers, whose task is to arrest them. This easy-going road movie raises some non-easy-going issues. What is crime and what is sin? Is forgiveness always possible? Can we easily move beyond our (personal) history?

The film is introduced by Edit Zsadányi
