Tjalling Zandberg thesis award voor thesis on foster care
Youth Care provider Elker has awarded the Tjalling Zandberg thesis price 2012 for the thesis "Through the eyes of a foster child. A qualitative study of the experiences and findings of children in foster care.
This thesis was written in 2011 by the University of Groningen Pedagogy students Karin Slagter and Eline Brugman and was supervised by Prof. Dr. Hans Grietens. With their thesis the students have made a significant contribution to the innovative and qualitative improvement of youth care, said Elker. The research on the experiences and findings of foster children was very innovative. It was as if the students were looking through the eyes of foster children! The study provides an opening to further research with a focus on stories of foster children.
