PhD ceremony: E.J.G. Boerma, 16.15 uur, Academiegebouw, Broerstraat 5, Groningen

Thesis: Molecular definition of Burkitt lymphoma

Promotor(s): prof. Ph.M. Kluin, J.C. Kluin-Nelemans

Faculty: Medical Sciences

The main subject of this thesis is the molecular definition of BL. Using this definition we focused on the distinction between BL and DLBCL and tried to answer the question whether the so-called “gray-zone” cases should be considered as BL, DLBCL or deserve their own diagnostic entity. Although there are three clinical variants of BL, this thesis focuses on the sporadic variant, as most of the research was performed on tumors from patients in The Netherlands.
