Nurse practitioners are part of the Dutch healthcare system since 2000. These healthcare workers have a nursing background and are trained on Master level in Advanced Nursing Practice. The nurse practitioner is trained to take over protocolized treatment which was formally reserved for doctors. This thesis shows the results of a scientific study to the effects of nurse practitioners on the cardiology department of the Medical Center Alkmaar.
