Tsinghua University named prof. De Hosson Honorary Guest Professor
Prof. dr. J.Th.M. De Hosson was named Honorary Guest Professor at the Tsinghua University, Beijing. De Hosson is Professor of Applied Physics at the Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. In 2005 he won the prestigious European Materials Gold Medal.
The Tsinghua University is known as one of the best universities in China. In the top-200 World Universities ranking of the Times Higher Education Supplement, Tsinghua University is ranked in 56th place.
De Hosson's research focuses on the relation between the microstructure of materials and their physical properties. In his research he uses highly advanced microscopical techniques, such as HRTEM, a technique which is based on the phase contract microscope invented by Frits Zernike.
