This work has been carried out in the framework of the TRImP (Trapped Radioactive Isotopes: microlaboratories for fundamental Physics) research project and its new facility at the Kernfysisch Versneller Instituut (KVI) in Groningen, The Netherlands. The TRImP facility has now reached a state such that it can be used for the foreseen precision experiments.

In particular,

a) it has capability to produce clean and intens radioactive secondary beams with its dual magnetic separator, e.g. up to 3 x 106 21Na/s with better than 99.5% purity for 100 W primary beam and 1 bar D2 gas pressure at 77 K temperature in the target.

b) it provides the opportunity to use high intensity primary beam and pressured gas target to increase the up to now recorded number of events in future precision experiments. A primary 20Ne beam of up to 1 kW and gas target pressure of 10 bar can be expected from preliminary measurements.

c) it has operational apparatuses for slowing and cooling radioactive ion beams, namely a thermal ionizer with 50% effciency for 21Na and a RFQ cooler with 56% transmission. 

d) there is an atomic MOT setup which particularly suited for Na isotopes and a beta-decay reaction microscope for precision measurements of the full kinematics in nuclear beta-decay.

e) there is a beta-decay experiment constructed based on a theoretical analysis of the sensitive experimental observables.
