The office will be ceremoniously inaugurated in the historical Academy Building of the University of Groningen, on Monday, 24th of October 2005, 2.00 pm (CET). The Osaka University Office Groningen is the Japanese university’s second international office. Last year it opened its first liaison office abroad in San Francisco, USA. The aim of these overseas offices is to enhance international collaboration in all research fields and to encourage student exchange program at both undergraduate and graduate level. The Groningen office will provide information about Osaka and stimulate exchange programmes between Osaka University and its European counterparts.

Symposium 25th and 26th of October

Osaka University chose the city of Groningen as the office’s residence, because of the strong and long lasting relationship and cooperation with Groningen University. The symposium will be held at three meeting sites in Groningen. Sixty researchers from both universities will lecture about recent developments in their field of work. There are three individual sessions for Natural Sciences and Technology, Human Sciences, and Medical Science and Biology.
