The Lustrum Office wants the All Inclusive anniversary celebrations to take place in the most sustainable way possible. This means that on various fronts numerous efforts are made to make sure we leave behind the smallest ecological footprint possible. We are, for example, trying to work with recyclable products and using hardly any paper within the organization.
We have made agreements with all the events’ caterers to use biodegradable plates and cutlery where possible. The beer glasses and even the straws we’ll use will be recyclable.
Almost every University building has a storage closet filled with ‘old clutter’: T-shirts from an open day of years ago, flags and banners that lie abandoned, hip crew jackets – in an outdated house style... The Lustrum Office will visit these storage places to collect all unused items in a special clean-up effort! The items will then be reused in a creative way: a group of students, including students from Minerva Academy of Art, will turn all these objects into a beautiful work of art. We will proudly show this artwork at all anniversary activities, just to show that old clutter can definitely be made into something extraordinary!
An impressive amount of food will be supplied to the hundreds of conference attendees of the academic conference ‘Growing together’. We will only have vegetarian dishes on offer (or vegan if requested). This means our conference attendees will not consume any meat, which is good for the environment and the world as a whole. There’s bound to be leftovers after lunch... This time we won’t throw anything away. Instead, we will be handing them out – in a safe and hygienic way of course – to the students, for example, who are studying hard for their exams in the University Library across the Academy Building...
The UG Ishop sells several items wearing the anniversary logo, which have all been produced in a sustainable way!
