Dr Rebecca Harrison is Lecturer in Film and Television at the University Glasgow, where she researches the gendered and raced histories of media and technology.
Her first book, From Steam to Screen, was published in 2018, and she has two more forthcoming: an analysis of The Empire Strikes Back (BFI, 2020), and an exploration of gender and race in the Star Wars franchise (Bloomsbury, 2024).
She is also a feminist critic and broadcaster who contributes reviews, festival reports, and discussions about canon formation to Sight & Sound, Mai, and the BBC, among others.
As an activist and curator, she recently founded the Glasgow Feminist Arts Festival and is committed to improving representation both onscreen and behind the camera.
