11 February 2019

The European Journal of Life Writing aims to provide a forum for work in the field of all forms of life narratives, with contributions ranging from conceptual to practical and creative work. EJLW is interdisciplinary in its outlook and welcomes articles on life writing from a wide range of disciplinary fields: literary and cultural studies, history and sociology, anthropology and ethnology, philosophy and psychology, film and media studies. It cherishes all kinds of theoretical and methodological approaches to auto/biography and enhances their interaction.

The journal was founded by the European Section of the International Auto/Biography Association (IABA Europe) during the Founding Conference of IABA Europe at the VU University in Amsterdam in October 2009 and its first issue was published in the autumn of 2012. From 2012 till 2018 the journal was published by de VU University Library. At the end of 2018 it found a new publisher in the University of Groningen Press.
