Process and workflow

To ensure high quality of the data in Pure, a "workflow" is created for some of the content types to ensure that the content is validated by other responsible parties than the researcher himself and that the content gets corrected if the validation was not successful.

The University Library is responsible for validating the bibliographic metadata and possible full texts whereas the faculty coordinators are validating the administrative metadata of research content.

Workflow status

If research output is shown on the University of Groningen research database depends on their "workflow" status in Pure. There are three possible workflow statuses:

  1. Entry in Progress
In case the status of the research output has been set to "Entry in progress" this means the publication is pending in Pure and will not be shown on the research database (anymore).
  2. For validation
After a researcher has entered metadata and fulltext, he saves the research output with status "For validation". At this point, the research output will become visible on the researcher's profile page and on the related organization's profile page - both of these pages are part of the University of Groningen research database.
  3. Validated
All research output with status "For validation" will appear to the validator responsible for validating this research output. He or she will validate the bibliographical metadata and the fulltext. If the validator approves the content, the status is set to "Validated" and remains visible on the University of Groningen research database.
