Removing Graph of Relations from the UG research database

17 February 2020

The research database of the University of Groningen contains the public profiles of researchers at the university and showcases their academic output and activities on the university website. It imports all information from the institutional repository Pure.

One of the components currently displayed on researchers' public profiles is the so called graph of relations that visually depicts relationships between researchers, grants, projects, outputs, external collaborators and more. Currently, the "graph of relations" requires the installation of Flash to run and is therefore considered a security risk by the web development team responsible for the maintenance of the UG public website. To adhere to the established security standards, a decision has been made to remove the "graph of relations" from the research database on Feb 25, 2020.

Work on a new and improved research database is currently ongoing and the current research database will be eventually phased out. It is expected that an improved version of the graph of relations will appear in the new research database in the future.
