ENRA Meet & Greet: SciVal, Scopus, and WOS as support tools for strategy, funding, recruiting, and national science agendas

ENRA Meet & Greet events are open to the member of the ENRA network (Expertise Network in Research Analytics) at the UG. In this second issue of this event, we've invited Dr. J.P. Birkner (FSE) who will inform our community about ways in which tools such as Scopus, WOS and Scival are used at the Zernike Institute.

Abstract:

Successful institute management requires awareness of ongoing developments such as major breakthroughs, leading groups, collaborators, or companies active in a given scientific field. At the Zernike Institute we make complimentary use of SciVal, Scopus, and Web of Science to make strategic choices based on solid information. These tools have also been used to align with or initialize national or international agendas, define if participation in a network is meaningful and sound, and how to strengthen the institute's role further (e.g. by means of hiring talent and creating body and mass on a certain strong topic).
