Another gift from Mr. W.A. Jörg

31 October 2017

Not for the first time, the University Library received a special gift from Mr. Willem A. Jörg. At an auction he acquired ten old editions and donated them to the library. Partly, they fit into the Healthy ageing theme, for instance:

  • Commentarii duodecim de febribus ad hippocratis disciplinam accomodati / door T. Glass. - Amsterdam : Tirion, 1743, and
  • Anatome ex omnium veterum recentiorumque observationibus / door T. Bartholin. - Leiden : Hack, 1674

The latter work has been on a long journey: printed in Leiden, it was used as a reference work by a medic in Copenhagen until the beginning of the 20th century; afterwards it was auctioned in Switzerland and thanks to Mr. Jörg it has now found a place in the University of Groningen Library's Special Collections.
