Biography:
Willem Roelf Hendrikus Koops, LLM (1925–2024). After completing his secondary education and studying Law at the University of Groningen, Koops worked at the Ministry of Education, Arts and Sciences. In 1955, he returned to Groningen from The Hague and became deputy director of the publishing house J.B. Wolters. From 1964 to 1990, he headed the University Library of the University of Groningen. Under his leadership, many changes were implemented that raised the library to a higher level. His greatest achievement is the construction of the new University Library at its current location. The arts, in all their forms, have occupied an important place in his life in many ways
