Information for foreign libraries
The University of Groningen Library participates in national and international interlibrary loan (ILL).
Inter library loan (ILL) limitedly possible again
Per 1 July, it is possible again to request books from other libraries, as well as copies from articles. We will try to find these articles in e-journals (N.B. no chapters in printed books or e-books). However, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to fulfill your request. After your request, we will keep you informed by e-mail.
More information: Borrowing from other libraries
The shared use of individual library collections is a necessary element of international co-operation by libraries. Just as no library can be self-sufficient in meeting all the information needs of its users, so can no country be self-sufficient. The supply of loans and copies between libraries in different countries is a valuable and necessary part of the interlibrary loan process.
Therefore we supply copies of our own publications to any other country, by loan, photocopy or other appropriate methods. Our services are well received and appreciated worldwide.
Document Supply Service Information
A majority of items from our collection of over 3,2 million books are available for loan. You can use our search engine SmartCat to browse for required titles or subjects. Audiovisual materials are not available for international loan. The term of loan is set on two months. If the publication has not been reserved, the term of loan can be renewed on request, barring exceptions.
Photocopies and scans are granted up to 50 pages per request. If you request articles, we can send them either as a paper version via regular mail, as a PDF via e-mail or supply through OCLC Article Exchange.
If you can’t request the item via SmartCat or Tipasa/WS ILL, please send us an e-mail: ill-library rug.nl
NB: Our loan service is offered solely to libraries and not to individuals.
Payment will be made through ILL Fee Management (IFM). If you are not affiliated with Tipasa, payment is due upon receipt of the requested materials, but please note that we reserve the right to request payment in advance under certain circumstances. If you are not affiliated with Tipasa, we prefer payment in IFLA ILL Vouchers. If you request books or photocopies and you do not pay in vouchers, administrative costs will be added to your invoice.
Payment through Tipasa:
- Articles: $20,-
- Books: $40,-
Payment by IFLA ILL Vouchers for:
- Books: 2 vouchers per volume
- Scans by e-mail: 1 voucher per 15 copies
Payment by Invoice for:
- Books: $ 40.00 per volume, excl. administrative costs
- Scans by e-mail: $ 20.00 per request, excl. administrative costs
