Regions in the world

Within communities and across borders we can always identify differences. Nevertheless regions also have a lot of things in common; a mutual past, cultural similarities, a certain political climate or economical dependencies. Within the Faculty of Arts some regions in the world are studied more closely. Specific knowledge combined with a broad perspective on similarities can give us a cleare view on actual global issues . Suwatin Miharti is an Indonesian PhD, who performs her research at our faculty thanks to the SInGA program. This cooperative program offers young Asian talent an opportunity to make use of high quality training and research in order to improve chances for good gouvernance in Indonesia. Suwatin Miharti's research project focuses on the role of community health centres organization in improving the health performance in Indonesia. More information on: Good gouvernance in Indonesia

"Knowledge utilisation nowadays plays an important role in funding and that triggers me."

Peter Jordan is archeologist and director of the Arctic Centre, a multidisciplinary institute that researches the vulnerable Northern polar area. Apart from research the Arctic Centre is also dedicated to public outreach and knowledge utilisation. Within the area of history and archeology you can find several Centers of Expertise in our faculty. These centers can make a connection between researchers and practitioners in various fields. In some cases also interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary research is pursued.
