PE Courses for Sworn Translators and Interpreters

PE courses at the University of Groningen Language Centre

The University of Groningen Language Centre currently does not offer courses to which PE points have been allocated.

In the future we hope to be able to offer more courses with PE points. Please let us know if there is a specific topic that you would like to follow a course in. For more information about our PE courses please contact the Language Centre Support Office.

You can also apply for PE points with the Bureau btv if you have participated in one of our group courses or a tailored course. However, we cannot guarantee that points will be awarded.

PE courses for sworn translators and interpreters

In order to maintain their certification, sworn translators must be able to prove that they are continually educating themselves. They can do this by collecting PE (Permanente Educatie; continuous education) points via various training activities.

Regulations concerning continuing education

When requesting extension of their registration in the Rbtv (Register beëdigde tolken en vertalers; register of sworn translators and interpreters), sworn translators and interpreters must demonstrate in writing that they have kept their professional level up to date in the 5 years preceding the request. To this end they must have collected at least 80 PE points from relevant training activities. 1 PE point corresponds to one demonstrable hour of training. A different rule applies to translators and interpreters who are on the Wbtv uitwijklijst (backup list): They must have gained at least 45 points in the 3 years preceding their registration extension.

More information about continuing education for translators and interpreters can be found at Bureau Wbtv.
