Piet van der Laan
- Lecturer in English
I have worked for the Language Centre as a lecturer of English since 2006. In that capacity I have taught many courses, ranging from conversation courses for university hospital staff to academic writing courses for students of Econometrics. Over the last few years I’ve mainly been teaching English courses at the Pre-University College of the Medical Faculty (UMCG) together with writing and presentation courses for students of Bio-medicine at the University of Osaka in Japan.
I am very passionate about what I do and I honestly believe that I teach one of the most important skills in the world. I am particularly interested in both computer assisted language learning and didactics in general.
In my free time I manage a website called thelecturette.com, aimed at students and teachers of English. I also like to run, travel, and play tennis.
To conclude, some really random things about me:
- I nearly slept through a 5.6 earthquake.
- I have two brothers named Jan and Klaas (which many Dutch people find funny).
- I am afraid of cheese.
