KVI - Center for Advanced Radiation TechnologyResearch and education

VWO Pupils and Teachers

In the past few years, KVI-CART has increased its activities for high-school students. School classes can visit the institute, KVI-CART staff members can give exciting presentations in schools and high-school students can do a short project (profielwerkstuk) under the supervision of a KVI-CART staff member. Within the Dutch national outreach project HISPARC (‘HIgh-School Project on Astrophysics Research with Cosmics’) high-school students, under supervision of a KVI-CART staff member, build detectors for cosmic radiation which are then placed on the roof of their school.

Open Day

Every year in October KVI-CART is open for the public during the open day, in the context of 'The Weekend of Science'. There are lectures, demonstrations and activities for children. The open day of KVI-CART is organized together with other institutions at the Zernike Complex, under the name 'Zpannend Zernike'.

The information on this site is interesting and easy to understand, with helpful visual aids and explanations at every step of the way. Plus, the site is extremely easy to use, to encourage pupils to explore the information here on their own.
