At KVI-CART fundamental disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research is accompanied by technical physics, accelerator physics and applications of atomic, laser, nuclear and particle-physics technology.
Regularly new PhD students can start a PhD project in one of the different research lines of KVI. PhD degrees are awarded by the University of Groningen, Faculty of Science and Engineering. As a PhD student at KVI-CART you are part of the Graduate School of Science and Engineering (GSSE).

For PhD studies at KVI-CART an MSc degree in Physics, Applied Physics or another relevant field is a prerequisite. Students who obtain such a position will either be employed as an employee of the University of Groningen or will obtain a grant, that will allow for sustainance.
