Titel: Detecting Ultra High Energy Neutrino's by Observing Lunar Cherenkov Radio Pulses
Ultra high energy cosmic rays have been detected at energies above 10**11 GeV but the origin of these cosmic rays is still a mystery. I will discuss the possibility of detecting ultra high energy neutrinos using radio waves. This would not only provide clues to the origin of the high energy cosmic rays, but also open a new field of UHE neutrino astronomy.
High energy neutrinos produce coherent Cherenkov radiation when they interact with the lunar regolith and the resulting radio pulses could be seen from earth. I will describe the recent experiments made in Australia using the Parkes radio telescope and the Australia Telescope compact array.
