Research

Our department is one of the four partners of the ICS (Interuniversity Center for Social Science Theory and Methodology). Most of our research is concentrated in the ICS. The ICS is one of the leading research centers in Dutch sociology and enjoys a very good international reputation.

Research at the Department of Sociology in Groningen is well known for its focus on

• Advanced theory formulation and method development
• Systematic integration of theory and empirical research
• Quantitative datacollection and measurement instruments

These "core-competencies" recur in a number of substantive research lines and projects.
