Adrie Visscher becomes Professor by Special Appointment in Data Driven Decision Making in Education
On 1 October 2014, Dr A. (Adrie) J. Visscher became Professor by Special Appointment in Data Driven Decision Making in Education at the Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences. The chair is funded by the Success For All - Nederland Foundation. This Foundation aims to support schools in improving the performance of their pupils by applying the Success For All programme (SFA). Because the pupils of SFA schools in other countries perform substantially better than those at comparable schools, there is a lot to be gained for Dutch schoolchildren. The Foundation wants to achieve this goal through research, development, innovation and the training of Master’s students and students at primary school teacher training colleges. The funding of this special chair is intended to contribute to this.
Adrie Visscher has extensive knowledge of and research and teaching experience in the field of management and organizational issues, as well as in data-supported decision-making processes (management information systems, data driven decision making) in primary and other education. He studied theory of education in Groningen and gained a PhD from the University of Twente with a thesis entitled Design and Evaluation of a Computer-assisted Management Information System for Secondary Schools. In addition to his professorship at the University of Groningen, he will continue his work at the Department of Research Methodology, Measurement and Data Analysis of the University of Twente.
