About us Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences Mobility Office - Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences Incoming Study in Groningen

How to apply?

There are 4 steps to apply for an exchange and to complete your registration process:

1.   Nomination by your home university. If your university is an exchange partner of the University of Groningen you can apply for a study abroad period at the International Office of your own university. After you have been selected for an exchange to Groningen by your home university, the international coordinator/exchange officer of your university will inform us of your nomination.

2.   Based on your nomination you are provisionally accepted as an exchange student at the Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences. We will send you updated information about your application and practical matters to think about when preparing your studies in Groningen (by e-mail). You can now apply online.

3.  After you have completed your online application (including all required documents, application form below), we will send you your 'letter of acceptance' by e-mail. We will register you as an exchange student at the Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences.

4.   The study adviser for exchange students will contact you about (the approval of) your course selection.

Additional information: learning agreement and course selection form

Erasmus students need to upload their 'Learning agreement' or Erasmus+ Before Mobility Form. This form should be provided by the home university, includes the proposed study programme of the student and needs to be signed by two parties: the student and the sending institution (coordinator(s) at home university). The receiving institution (coordinator at University of Groningen) will sign when courses have been approved provisionally.

Apart from the Learning Agreement/Before Mobility Form, we ask all exchange students to upload the 'Course selection form', provided by the University of Groningen. On this form, students list the same courses as on the learning agreement. This is not an official document, but it is used by the study adviser for exchange students in the process of approving the proposed study programme.

Note on course selection: The course overview and timetables for the academic year 2015-2016 will be published after the application deadline of June 1st. Course selections should be based on the course overview of 2014-2015 and can be changed during the summer.
