"It is an enjoyable and interesting Master’s degree programme with a lot of freedom"
I spent two years studying in Enschede, but decided to continue in Groningen. I have always been intrigued by the visual aspect of computers, and with that in mind Groningen had the most suitable degree programme.
The theoretical modules were difficult but fun and the modules in the Intelligent Systems Master’s variant were very interesting, but what I found the most challenging was the research phase, where you really had to think actively about everything. The lecturers are very approachable and open to your questions and ideas.
I did a very stimulating internship in Italy and I have always been active outside my degree programme. I was on the editorial board of the student society journal ‘De Periodiek’, I was a scout leader, did sports and travelled a lot. I have always highly valued these contacts outside my studies.
Computing Science is an enjoyable and interesting Master’s degree programme with a lot of freedom, but you do have to be motivated and disciplined or else you’ll get into trouble. After I’ve gained my Master’s degree I am going to do PhD research in Zurich. A Master’s degree in Computing Science opens up a lot of interesting possibilities. The market for computer scientists is booming again, so graduates have a lot of possibilities and will have no problems finding a job.
