Fellows round 2010

at the Faculty of Science and Engineering

In the 4th round of Rosalind Franklin Fellowships two fellows have been appointed at the Faculty of Science and Engineering:

  • Dr. Karina Caputi – at the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute
    as of 1 February 2012
  • Dr. Angela Casini – at the Groningen Research Institute of Pharmacy
    as of 1 October 2011

Dr. Karina Caputi

Karina Caputi (1973) obtained a first degree in Physics at the Instituto Balseiro, in Bariloche, Argentina, and a PhD in Astronomy from the University of Edinburgh (UK) in 2005. She worked as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Institut d'Astrophysique Spatiale, in Orsay, France, and at the ETH Zurich in Switzerland.

In 2009, she obtained a Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowship, which she held at the University of Edinburgh until 2011. In February 2012, she joined the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute
as Assistant Professor and Rosalind Franklin Fellow.

Dr. Angela Casini
Angela Casini (1973) received her Master degree in Physical Chemistry at the University of Florence, and earned her PhD degree in Chemical Sciences from the same University in 2004. The PhD was followed by two post-doc periods, in Pisa and Florence.

Between 2008-2011 she was senior scientist at the Institut des Sciences et Ingénierie Chimiques, Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (Switzerland) till she took her present position as an assistant professor in Groningen in 2011 within the Department of Pharmacokinetics, Toxicology and Targeting. The study of the mechanisms of action of metallodrugs is an active topic of her research program in the field of Medicinal Inorganic Chemistry.
