The Zernike Campus, where most of the activities pertaining to Engineering take place, is a growing campus, comprising University buildings and research and educational facilities, student associations, cafeterias and sports facilities. Zernike is also the site for numerous collaborations between engineering researchers and private companies on topics such as the bio-based economy, and smart factories. The campus is located conveniently near the city centre of Groningen which has been chosen one of the first 3 most innovative cities in Europe and one of the happiest too. The city scores high on greening, trust in fellow inhabitants, health care, public spacing and of course, education.
