1. Admission & Selection
Am I admissible?
An academic Bachelor's degree in Artificial Intelligence or a related field including the following key subjects: Calculus, Linear Algebra, Probability & Statistics, Advanced Programming, Machine Learning, Advanced Logic, Neural Networks, Research Methodology Skills. The Admission Board determines whether the specific contents of courses meet the admission requirements of the Master programme.
Information about admission possibilities and requirements for students with a Dutch BSc degree (academic or HBO) is published below (is there a pre-master?).
Selection
Selection procedure
Because this programme is selective you must both meet the admission requirements and successfully complete a selection procedure in order to be admitted to this Master's degree programme.
In order to select academically suited and motivated students, the Admission Board requires a complete selection file from you. The Admission Board will review all individual applicants on the basis of their selection file. When your admissible you will also be rated on these selection criteria:
1. Academic performance (60%)
2. Motivation (40%)
For more information on these two criteria please check out the Teaching and Examination Regulations.
Is there a pre-master?
Do you want to follow the Master’s degree programme AI but your university of applied sciences or university Bachelor’s degree doesn’t satisfy the entry requirements? In a number of cases, you can then follow a Pre-Master’s programme to bring your knowledge and skills to the required level. The Admissions Board will decide on whether this is possible for you.
We offer predetermined Pre-Master’s programmes (Table 8.1-8.3) and individually determined Pre-Master’s programmes for the MSc AI.
Starting date for a Pre-master's programme is 1 September.
Pre-master's programme 1
For students with a Bachelor’s degree (except Artificial Intelligence and Computing Science) from the Faculty of Science and Engineering from the University of Groningen (UG) and for students with a Bachelor’s degree in Econometrics from the UG. The Admission Board may decide to include/exclude different courses on an individual basis.

(Conditional) Admission
information about (conditional) admission
Rejection
After you have submitted your admission request the admissions board will assess your file. You will receive an admission decision letter within six weeks. When the board has determined that your educational background or allignment with the Master's degree programme is insufficient you wil receive a rejection letter.
Pre-master
After the admissions board has assessed your admission request you will receive an (conditional) admission letter by email within six weeks.
When you have not yet obtained your bachelor's degree you will receive a conditional admission letter.
