Apply for a MSc Programme

Holders of a UG or Dutch University Bachelor’s degree in

- a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (croho-code 56157)

- a Bachelor’s degree in Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences from Leiden University (croho-code 50207)

are considered to have sufficient knowledge and skills and will be directly admitted to the Master’s degree programme.

Please check the admission and/or entry requirements in the Teaching and Examination Regulations to see whether your Bachelor's degree grants admission to the Master's degree programme. If you have unconditional access to a non-selective Master's degree programme, you do not have to follow a special application procedure: you may simply register in Studielink for your Master's degree programme.

Students with a background in Medical Pharmaceutical Sciences or related bachelor’s degree programme from a Dutch university that are interested in pursuing a master’s degree programme in Medical Pharmaceutical Sciences are encouraged to apply by submitting an admission request. The Board of Admissions of Medical Pharmaceutical Sciences will then assess the application and decides whether the applicant has sufficient background to register for the programme, possibly after following a bridging pre-master’s programme. You apply by submitting an admission request.

Admission to the MSc. programme Medical Pharmaceutical Sciences is possible via a Pre-master’s programme.

FSE offers fixed Pre-Master’s programmes of 30 ECTS for access to the MSc Medical Pharmaceutical Sciences individually determined Pre-Master’s programmes. The overview below shows:

-          Which NVAO-accredited HBO diploma grants access to the MSc ;

-          The content and student workload for these fixed programmes, depending on whether the student starts in the first or second semester.

  To apply for a pre-master programma you submit an admission request. For HBO programmes not listed above, the Board of Admissions decides. You apply by submitting an admission request.

If you would like to follow a FSE Master’s degree programme that dovetails insufficiently with your Bachelor’s degree programme, the Admissions Board may decide that you will first have to complete a Pre-master’s programme. A Pre-master's programme (max. 60 ECTS) usually comprises a set of Bachelor’s course units. If you are going to follow a Pre-master’s programme, please note that:

• All the course units followed in a Pre-master’s programme must be completed within one academic year. In practice this will mean, for example, that for each course unit that is concluded with an exam, there will be no more than two scheduled exam opportunities; the regular examination and one resit. You will not be able to start the Master’s degree programme if you fail these exams.
• Statutory tuition fees do not apply to Pre-master’s programmes. Instead, you will have to pay a special Pre-master’s fee that is calculated per ECTS rather than per month of registration. More information about this can be found on this website.

A fast-track programme ('Doorstroomprogramma' in Dutch) is a study programme at the University of Groningen, that can be followed by an HBO-student as part of their HBO study programme. The programme is formally part of the HBO study programme, for example as elective course units or in the form of a minor programme. The goal of such a fast-track programme is to create a better connection between the bachelor and the master programme.

This programme is intended to be taken in the minor space of the HBO Bachelor Chemische Technologie or equivalent.

Please register in Studielink for the (Pre-) Master’s programme (including the master track if available). Please make sure you meet the payment obligations before the starting date (single payment or in instalments).

Please note; In case you would like to start with a Pre-master's programme, please make sure you register for the Pre-master's programme instead of the Master's degree programme in Studielink. If you have questions on how to register in Studielink, please contact us.

All candidates with Dutch qualifications have to file an admission request via the FSE Application form, and upload the following documents before 1 May (start 1 September):

• ID card or passport

• Diploma of relevant Bachelor’s degree programme (if possible); or if the diploma is not yet obtained, a document containing a description + planning of the remaining course units in the programme

• Official transcript of records

• Proof of English language proficiency

• Curriculum Vitae

After candidates have filed their admission request, applications will be processed in the following way:

For holders of a Dutch BSc diploma:

1. Admission Support FSE compiles the individual selection file

2. Admission Support FSE submits the individual selection file to the Admission Board of the individual programme

For holders of a non-Dutch BSc diploma:

1. You upload documents in de Progress Portal

2. Admissions Office validates individual Bachelor’s degree diploma

3. Admissions Office submits the individual admission file to Admission Support FSE

4. Admission Support FSE submits the individual admission file to the Admission Board of the individual programme

After you have submitted your admission request the admissions board will assess your file. You will receive an admission decision letter within six weeks. When the board has determined that your educational background or allignment with the Master's degree programme is insufficient you wil receive a rejection letter.

After the admissions board has assessed your admission request you will receive an (conditional) admission letter by email within six weeks.

When you have not yet obtained your bachelor's degree you will receive a conditional admission letter.

Because the Master's degree programme AI is selective, this means that once you have successfully completed the pre-Master's programme, you will also be automatically admitted to the Master's programme in AI. You do need to register in Studielink. After this Admission Support will process your application.

If you disagree with a decision, you can lodge a complaint, objection or appeal. Complaints, objections and appeals can be submitted to the Central Portal for the Legal Protection of Student Rights (CLRS).
