The 6th Quantum Universe Symposium will highlight recent developments at the intersection of astronomy, (astro-)particle physics, cosmology, mathematics and subatomic physics. In particular, the special topic of this year will be the recent developments and extensions of Einstein´s theory of general relativity, which was discovered 100 years ago. The keynote speakers of this year's edition include Heino Falcke, Subir Sarkar and Erik Verlinde, in addition to a number of national and local speakers.

Masterclasses

The symposium with be preceded on Wednesday March 23 2016 by a set of masterclasses, primarily aimed at bachelor and master students. It is also open to interested PhD students and postdocs.

The symposium is part of the track "The Quantum Universe" of the Physics and Astronomy Master programmes, a collaboration between the Van Swinderen Institute for Particle Physics and Gravity (VSI), the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute,  the KVI - Center for Advanced Radiation Technology (KVI-CART) and the Johann Bernoulli Institute (JBI). The aim of the symposium is to present new developments, both theoretical and experimental, in (astro-)particle physics and astronomy and to stimulate interactions between the different institutes.
