Costs

Part One of PASF in Brazil is offered free of charge to students enrolled at a Higher Education Institution in Brazil. Part Two of PASF in Groningen has a cost fee of EUR 550 excluding housing. A restricted number of rooms in International Student Houses in the City of Groningen are available for a surcharge of EUR 350.

Application procedure

The application windows for Part One (in Brasilia, December 2-6, 2019) and Two (in Groningen, January 15-28, 2020) have closed.

Participation conditions:

  • The summer school course in Brazil (Part One) targets students from Brazilian universities. Students from other countries are also welcome, if there is sufficient capacity.
  • The winter school course in Groningen (Part Two) is open to all international students.
  • In an ideal world, participants take both Part One and Part Two, but both parts can also be taken separately.
  • Applicants for Part One or Part Two should have completed at least 4 semesters in their current undergraduate programme, or should be enrolled in or have completed a higher level academic program (master, PhD) in higher education.
  • The primary target group for Parts One and Two are undergraduate students currently enrolled in higher education. If there is sufficient capacity, other students (master, PhD students) or participants (e.g., students graduated from higher education), will be accepted.
  • The course is open for all students from all disciplines that are eager to learn about the unique and specific planning tools and policies that have been implemented in the field of sustainable urban and regional development in the Netherlands.
  • Both parts of the course are delivered in English. Participants are expected to have a sufficient command of the English language in order to participate in discussions and to write short essays. You do not need to submit proof of a language test, but an English language proficiency equal to TOEFL 550 or IELTS 5.5 is expected.

Acceptance timetable

All participants for Part Two (Groningen) that timely express their interest in Part One (Brasilia) will also be accepted for Part One. In case there is a higher demand for Part One or Part Two, we will seek to create more capacity. We will therefore create a waiting list.

All applicants for Part One that submit their application form before November 1 will be informed early November at the latest if they are accepted or not. Applicants for Part One that submit their application form between November 1 and 15 will be informed as soon as possible if they are accepted or not. The deadline for application for Part One is November 15.

All applicants for Part Two (in Groningen) will be informed if they are accepted or not as soon as possible after their application document has been received. For Part Two, we work on a first come, first served basis. Accepted participants for Part Two will receive an Acceptance Letter, including payment explanations and instructions. Accepted participants for Part Two should transfer the Part Two cost fee of EURO 550 (excluding housing) or EURO 900 (including housing) within 20 days of receipt of the Acceptance Letter, but definitely not later than December 31st. The deadline for application for Part Two is December 15.
