Exchange students from non-partner universities

Students not presently enrolled at one of the universities operating a student exchange program with the Faculty of Spatial Sciences are welcome to explore the possibilities of taking one or more courses at the Faculty of Spatial Sciences. The candidates must meet a number of conditions, including:

1. Sufficient education in Human Geography, Spatial Planning, Demography or a related other social science

2. Sufficient command of the English language. We accept the following certificates and test scores:

  • IELTS Academic: overall score of 6, speaking score of 6, writing score of 5.5

  • TOEFL iBT: overall score of 80, speaking and writing score of 20

  • Cambridge English Language Assessment; B2 First, C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency: overall score of 169, speaking score of 169, writing score of 162

  • For students from the EU: CEFR English language test: overall score of B2/C1

Students from universities from the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Denmark, Germany and Austria do not need to submit proof of a sufficient command of the English language.

3. All exchange students registered at the Faculty of Spatial Sciences are required to take the course ‘Spatial Problems and Spatial Policies: The Dutch Experience’.

4. Sufficient funds to support the costs of living and education, including a teaching fee of €50 per European Credit (EC)

5. Continued enrollment at the home university during the period of exchange

Each year, a limited number of exchange students from non-partner universities can be welcomed. In general terms, the Faculty of Spatial Science welcomes the opportunity to make acquaintance with a potential new partner university by means of an exchange of a student. The normal deadlines for application and selection apply.

Exchange students from partner universities have priority rights when applying for enrollment in courses with specific entry requirements, capacity limits and so on. For information, please contact the International Office of the Faculty of Spatial Sciences.
